Our Tiny Treasures We call our littlest ones our Tiny Treasures. Parents may choose to have the little ones remain with them during the church service or take them to the loving teachers in the Tiny Treasures classroom, a few short steps from the sanctuary. There they are lovingly held by our baby huggers and/or are offered a variety of age-appropriate learning activities tailored to their interests. Children and Teen Classes Our children and teen classes are taught by loving teachers most of whom are either currently educators in the school system or are retired educators. They follow a curriculum prepared by the Association of Unity Churches International or the Virtues Program as taught by Laura Morgan, a certified Virtues teacher. Teens also study Real Love, a series based on the book and teachings of Greg Baer. UniTeens UniTeens are those in 6th grade through high school. In addition to studying Unity Teachings, they often participate in the Sunday service through activities such as Readers’ Theater presentations, Advent candle lighting, and sharing their learning with the congregation in a variety of ways. Through their many creative projects, they have raised funds to support their activities as well as contributing to the church and social service agencies in the community. One project this year is to make banners each month and hang them in the Sanctuary. We empower our tweens and teens to listen to their inner guidance, to embrace their individuality, and to respect others, using the “Life Issues” series from the Association of Unity Churches. Choices and consequences, relationships, self-image and fair play are some of the areas covered during the class. The class starts each week by attending our Sunday Morning Service; from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, then we move to our classroom after the Children's Lesson. |
